Our Environmental Promise

Our Commitment to Ireland's Natural Heritage

Since 2017, Celtic Fusion has been a proud supporter of native tree reforestation in Ireland. To date, we've helped plant 16,900 native trees, ensuring their protection for future generations, enhancing biodiversity, and fostering a healthier planet. Along with this we have donated the equivalent of 3.53 football fields of land towards our current project regenerating native woodland and rewilding Ireland. Our contributions are our recognition of the resources used in creating and delivering our designs to you. By supporting Hometree, a nature-positive organisation, we and our customers contribute to the restoration of native woodlands,

As of 2024, each order includes a €4 contribution, rewilding 4 square meters of land through Hometree's flagship Wild Atlantic Rainforest project. This initiative adopts a holistic rewilding and natural regeneration approach to create and restore habitats, allowing nature to take its course.

As we celebrate our 9th year partnering with Hometree, we're thrilled to continue this journey together. We've actively participated in tree planting, worked in their organic nursery, and joined numerous events. To learn more about how the Celtic Fusion Design community can engage further, visit Hometree's website. Here, you can also sign up for open days to see firsthand the impact of our collaboration.

See our Video about the project below.

Sustainable & Natural Fabrics

At Celtic Fusion Design, we are deeply committed to sustainability, from the threads we choose to the finishes on our garments. Each fabric we use is thoughtfully selected for its low environmental impact, durability, and alignment with our values of slow fashion and earth consciousness. Below, you’ll find some of the natural, sustainable materials we incorporate into our Celtic-inspired clothing.

Cotton, linen blends, jute and coconut used to create sustainable Celtic Clothing

raw jute

Jute is one of the world’s most eco-friendly fibres. Grown without the need for synthetic fertilisers or pesticides, the jute plant thrives on natural rainfall, eliminating the need for irrigation. Even better, it absorbs more CO₂ and releases more oxygen than trees, enriching the environment while it grows. Jute matures within 4 to 6 months, offering high yields with a minimal land footprint. Once woven, the fabric is fully biodegradable and can be dyed using natural, non-toxic dyes, making it a perfect fit for clothing rooted in nature.

Cotton Slub

With its rustic texture and timeless charm, our cotton slub fabric offers a beautiful balance of character and comfort. This medium-weight, pure cotton textile is celebrated for its visible, natural slubs — tiny irregularities that give each piece a unique, handcrafted look reminiscent of old-world linen.

Why We Love Cotton Slub:

  • Naturally Breathable: Keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter — ideal for layering and everyday wear and feels great on your skin.

  • Durable & Long-Lasting: Its robust weave holds its shape and beauty even after years of use.

  • Rustic Elegance: The textured surface adds depth and an earthy sophistication to your wardrobe.

  • Eco-Friendly & 100% Natural: Free from synthetic blends, this premium fabric supports sustainable fashion and work practices and a healthier planet.

Un-dyed Fabrics

The dyeing process is one of the most chemically intensive stages in textile production, involving up to 8,000 different substances. That’s why many of our garments are made from unbleached and un-dyed plant-based fabrics, allowing the natural hues of cotton, linen, and jute to shine through. This gentle approach not only reduces environmental harm but also honours the raw beauty of the fibre itself.

Coconut

Even the smallest elements in our designs are chosen with care. Instead of plastic, we use buttons made from reclaimed coconut shells, a waste product that would otherwise go unused. These wooden buttons are not only biodegradable and durable, but they also support circular design and reduce dependence on synthetic materials. It’s a simple yet meaningful way to keep our garments aligned with our values: natural, mindful, and beautiful.

Ethical Craftsmanship: Our Partnership in India

Ethical production team in India crafting Celtic Fusion’s sustainable clothing with care. Skilled artisanship, and conscious creation rooted in respect, tradition, and slow fashion.

At Celtic Fusion Design, we believe sustainability goes beyond the materials we use, it includes the people who bring our designs to life.

While our clothing is designed with care in the West of Ireland, we proudly partner with a small, ethical production team in India to help transform our ideas into garments. This partnership is essential to our creative process and sustainability goals. With limited resources locally, working with skilled artisans abroad allows us to create high-quality, hand-finished pieces in a way that would not be possible in Ireland alone.

We’ve cultivated a long-term, respectful relationship with our team in India, one built on fair wages, safe working conditions, and mutual appreciation. Their expertise in natural textiles, hand-finishing, and responsible production processes is second to none. By choosing to work with them, we not only honour the traditional skills they bring but also ensure that every piece is made with dignity, respect, and pride.

We regularly communicate with our team, ensuring transparency and accountability, and are proud to support ethical employment that empowers local communities. Our goal is not fast fashion — but slow, conscious creation that uplifts everyone involved in the journey from fabric to finished piece.

Celtic Fusion Designer Founder, Regina works hands-on with our ethical team in India, overseeing sustainable garment production and ensuring quality and care for our team and designs

Our Founder’s Hands-On Approach

Regina, our founder and designer, travels to India each year for three months to work directly with our production team. Being on the ground allows her to personally oversee each step of the process, collaborate closely with the artisans, and ensure that every garment reflects the care, quality, and ethical values at the heart of Celtic Fusion Design. These visits are not just about production, they’re about building genuine relationships, sharing knowledge, and creating with intention.

By supporting Celtic Fusion Design, you're not only investing in sustainable materials and Celtic-inspired design, but also in a global story of ethical collaboration and shared values.
